Itinerary

Brahmatal Trek Itinerary | Best Winter Trek in Uttarakhand

Day 1: Drive from Dehradun to Lohajung Village

  • Altitude: 2,300 m / 7,662 ft
  • Drive distance: 300 km (Approx 10 hours)
  • Pickup Time and Location: 6:15 AM from Prince Chowk, Dehradun
  • Network available at Lohajung
  • Stay at Uttara Hikes Guest House

Day 2: Trek from Lohajung to Bekaltal – The Brown Lake

  • Bekaltal Altitude: 3,000 m / 9,950 ft
  • Trek distance: 6 km (4-5 hours)
  • Altitude gain: 700 m / 2,150 ft
  • Difficulty: Moderate ascent through forest
  • Hot lunch provided at the campsite
  • Water sources: Springs and man-made water sources
  • Evening walk to Bekaltal Lake for sunset views
  • Overnight stay in tents

Day 3: Trek from Bekaltal to Brahmatal

  • Brahmatal Altitude: 3,200 m / 10,450 ft
  • Jhandi Top Altitude: 3,400 m / 11,150 ft
  • Trek distance: 7 km (6-7 hours)
  • Altitude gain: 400 m / 1,300 ft
  • Steep ascent for 1.3 hours via Bekaltal, then gradual ascent
  • Steep descent in the next section, final stretch gradual descent to campsite
  • Hot food served at campsite
  • No water sources en route; carry at least two bottles of water
  • Beautiful views of Shivalik and Greater Himalayas
  • Night walk along Brahmatal Lake

Day 4: Brahmatal Lake to Brahmatal Top and Return to Lohajung

  • Trek distance: 12 km (approx. 7 hours)
  • Moderate difficulty until Brahmatal summit, then descent towards Lohajung
  • Packed lunch at the top with 360-degree panoramic mountain views
  • Views include Chaukhamba, Mana, Mandir, Neelkanth, Nilgiri, Nanda Ghunti, Trishul, Maitoli, and Panchachuli Ranges on one side; Shivalik Himalayan Mountains on the other
  • No water sources on the way; carry at least two liters of water

Day 5: Return to Dehradun

  • No accommodation on this day
  • Breakfast provided

Inclusions

Stay: Tented accommodation at individual campsites.

Trek Equipment: Sleeping bag, sleeping tents, kitchen tent, dining tent, toilet tent.
Amenities: All utensils, sleeping mattresses (black foam mats), crampons, and gaiters for snow.
Health & Safety: First Aid Box, oxygen cylinders, stretchers, oximeters, BP machines, health support.
Permits: Forest permits and camping permission fees included.
Trek Crew: High altitude chef, helpers, trek leader & guides, and support teams.
Porters & Mules: Porters and mules carry all trekking equipment, rations, and vegetables.

Exclusion

  • Any meals or accommodation outside the itinerary or not mentioned in the program.
  • Bus or airfare to and from the trek start or end point.
  • Personal medical expenses; please carry your medications.
  • Personal services such as laundry, phone calls, liquor, mineral water, etc.
  • Still and video camera fees, if applicable.
  • Mule or porter charges for carrying private baggage.
  • Emergency evacuation charges, if required.
  • Any services not mentioned in the cost inclusion section.

1. Cancellation by the Trekker:

  • Incase a trekker cancels their participation, the paid amount (including the booking amount) will non-refundable under all circumstances.

2. Postponement by the trekker:

  • If a trekker wishes to postpone their trek, they may do so without any cancellation charges, provided they inform Uttara Hikes atleast 4 days prior to the scheduled trek start date.
  • The full payment paid (including the booking amount) will be securely carried forward to the next time but for the same trek.
  • The postponed trek can be availed at any time in the future – there is no expiry or time limit for rebooking.
  • If a trekker fails to inform about the postponement within 4 days of the trek date, the booking amount and full payment (if made) will be forfeited.

Terms & Conditions

Please read the following terms and conditions carefully before booking the RoopKund Trek.

1. Extra Days Beyond Itinerary:

If the trek extends beyond the scheduled itinerary due to any reason- such as road blockage, bad weather, health issues, government restrictions or personal delays- the additional expenses for accommodation, meals, transportation, or any other services will not be covered under the trek package. Such extra costs shall be borne by the trekker directly at the time of occurance.

If the trekker voluntarily ends their journey before the completion of the itinerary, no refund will be provided for the unused days or services. Similarly, if due to weather conditions, safety concerns, or any other unavoidable circumstances, Uttara Hikes completes the trek earlier than scheduled, but all the destinations mentioned in the itinerary have been covered, no refund or adjustment shall be applicable for the remaining days.

The Booking amount(1000 Rs) is strictly non-refundable under any circumstances. Full & Final Payment must be completed after the official trek briefing. Failure to make the full payment even after the briefing will result in automatic cancellation of the trek package without any refund of the booking amount.

During the trek, the decision of the trek leader or Uttara Hikes management will be final & binding in matters related to safety. Route changes, or trek continuation. Any participant failing to follow safety instructions may be asked to discontinue the trek without refund.

Trekkers are expected to ensure their physical fitness before joining the trek. Uttara Hikes will not be responsible for any injury, loss or damage to personal belongings during the trek.
